This is a solid place, good staff, new menu and ok prices for being right in the middles of everything, cool outdoor spaces and an upstairs area that was a New Jersey Nightmare dance club theme last summer but there are new owners so we will see if they can get 5 stars if they do something cool with the upstairs this summer!!!

It depends on what you come here for. We were lured in by our server who was sitting on a bench out front and had an extremely welcoming personality. He alone is the reason this has 3 stars and not 2 because his service was nothing short of outstanding. He was friendly, funny, gave advice on menu items (including steering us away from some things) and even put an umbrella up in the rafters on their patio to give us extra shade. The cocktails were really good and they carry Traveller's beer, so if you're in the the mood to drink a few drinks, I highly recommend Folly Beach Shrimp Co. As for food, do not eat your meal here. We ordered the crab dip which was served with slightly stale chips and had no visible chunks of crab. I'm also used to old bay being from MD and that was lacking for me here. We should have read the dip as a sign but for convenience stayed for lunch. I ordered the chicken BBQ sammy with a side ceasar. If you want a salad, go with the mixed green over the ceasar. The lettuce quality is better and there is a larger variety of veggies. The bbq wasn't in any sauce - so while the chicken was good the sammy was dry. My bridesmaids were similarly underwhelmed with their meals.

How do you call yourselves a shrimp company but literally have NO seafood on the menu?!?! Literally 3-4 "seafood" options (pull and peel shrimp) The brisket sandwich was rubbery fat with more bread than meat... Will never come back...

This place should get 10 stars. We stopped in here for lunch, grabbed a couple beers, some fish n' chips, and a nice burger! We were the only ones in there...but clearly not because the restaurant sucked. We were there in December, so clearly it's off-season for them. The fish was fresh, amazing and perfect. The fries were hand cut, and maybe my favorite fries to date (sorry Portillo's). This gal came up and started talking to us about our baby girl, telling us how cute she is, etc. We never get tired of hearing that :) Come to find out she was the owner, and her and her husband just welcomed twin girls. So we traded Mommy stories and all was right in the world. This was a nice lunch, we got to meet a really nice lady, had delicious food, cold beers and experience a really cool place! Thanks FBSC!

There was a HUGE miscommunication between our party and Shrimp Co. We had a party of about 55 people (give or take) show up unexpectedly. They stepped up to the plate and did an amazing job serving us from the bar as well as from the kitchen. Despite the stress and craziness, their staff was fun, friendly and more than willing to take on the daunting task of having an unexpected party our size. I'll definitely be coming here again and recommending then to everyone I know! P.S. Aside from their awesome service, their BBQ nachos and Crab Cakes are AMAZING!!!

Went with a big bachelorette party (9 of us) and was a bit concerned that it wasn't busy on a Friday night. But once our server appeared, John put us at ease. He steered us towards the best drinks (although our bachelorette was pretty sure hers wasn't the right one, even though it was good), and kept everything full and moving quickly. Appetizers were delicious, reasonable, and great for sharing. Bacon scallops, peel-and-eat shrimp, and the wings & waffles were OUTSTANDING. The emphasis on barbecue for a place named Shrimp Company caused some raised eyebrows, but that didn't mean that it wasn't tasty. One of the best grit cakes I've ever experienced. As previously mentioned, the service was crazy attentive, portions were big, and prices pretty reasonable. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Folly Beach!

Let's start with the service... Little to none. We walked in, stood at the desk for three minutes before a bartender yelled at us and told us to sit wherever. Then, we went outside-waited for ten minutes and moved inside because of lack of service. We went inside, and it seemed like everyone was served except us. It was frustrating. Our server (wasn't even working our section) came over and took care of us (after twenty five minutes). By the way, there's only three things that I saw on the menu that actually involved shrimp. I got the peel-n-eat shrimp, and it was average at best. Not a good experience at all. There are way better resturants right beside here.

Went there for dinner early with our 2 year old. Service awesome! Staff friendly and welcoming! I got low country boil...good. My husband had Sumbalaya (remember us now...LOL) and it was good but he added a bit more hot sauce. Chicken tenders for kids were awesome and some of the best we have had. Fried green tomatoes were good and went well with poached eggs I made the next morning. Just wish they had more "shrimp dishes" since it is in their name!

Visited in the first week of May. Had some cold cooked shrimp, hush puppies, and some beer. The service was great; bartenders were friendly and the food came out fast. If you are looking for quality food and cold beers while hanging out at the beach, I would recommend this place for dinner from all of the local restaurants.

Friendly staff, very helpful. Food was o.k., nothing I'd have again. We left and went to a bar next door. Our bartender was there a few minutes later and was a whole lot less friendly than when he was at work. Just saying.

Not that amazing. The menu is very limited. Place was dead took forever for our food to come out. My salad came with hubbys shrimp kinda shocked. Tried to be nice to our server who had to deal with a very pissy lady about nachos next to us. Hubby said shrimp was amazing. Not much to write about more a bar then a restaurant. Meh. Not gonna visit again.

Wow, this place has really gone down hill. We have eaten here fairly regularly since it opened and each time we go it is less and less appealing. We were literally the only people in the restaurant on a Friday night and the service was atrocious. Had to walk up to the bar to get drink refills, half of the items we tried to order were not available, and the staff was more concerned with talking to each other than service. Take it from a local, don't waste your time or money here. Plenty of great spots across the street. Such a disappointment.

Shrimp and Grits and duck confit are both unique and yummy. Pam is an awesome server! Great outside fireplace.

Sadly, this one fell short. Folly Beach has a special place in my heart and I do pride myself as a foodie. The love of food has certainly bled from the heart of Charleston into it's neighboring beaches. There are several places to eat and this was one of several we tried during an eight night stay. Unfortunately this one fell to the bottom of the experience list. We sat on the roof top and caught the first half of a Thursday night football game. The only positive part was our bartender. He was exceptional and very friendly. We ordered a few beers, corn fritters, and peel and eat shrimp. How you can mess up peel and eat shrimp is beyond me. Some were broken, overall dry, lacked seasoning, and came with two very bland sauce options. The corn fritters turned out to be more like hushpuppies. There was little corn and more cornmeal flavor. This location has changed hands several times since we started visiting Folly and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again. The location is prime and features an amazing rooftop, but the excecution of food just wasn't there.

We read the reviews but still went, shame on us. We decided to go in as the atmosphere was less like a bar and they had a really nice patio. All other places had an hour plus wait, but FBSC could seat us right away. Again shame on us that should have been a sign. Our waiter was super friendly had a great personality and was working the room. It took about 30 minutes to place an order, which was our third sign again shame on us. At this point we were committed so we decided to stay. For appetizers we ordered fried shrimp and the bacon scallops. For dinner my husband got the fried seafood platter and I got a salad. The food itself was pretty good. On a scale of 1 to 5 overall we would give it a 3.5. The problem with this place is the kitchen not the waitstaff. From the time we were seated until our food came it was about an hour and a half (remember, it wasn't busy). But that was just out appies (and also time for the dance club upstairs to kick in). Our waiter apologized and offered to comp our drinks or an appetizer. We continues to wait for our meal so my husband went to complain. The kitchen manager actually argued with my husband over the hour and a half wait for food. It's a shame. This place has a great setting, a good waitstaff, awesome patio and the food, when you get it, isn't that bad. The problem is the kitchen and management. It was so bad, the waiter comped our meal (we tipped him well) It's rare when we don't give a place a second shot, but we definitely won't be going back. If we wanted to wait that long for fried seafood we would just go to Bowens Island (at least they don't make a secret about the wait)
